Stupid cooking question: When preparing rice how many ounces equal 1 cup

I'm trying to do something I rarely accomplish which is cooking. Anyway to make a long story short I can't find any measuring cups (its still probably packed up among the dozens of boxes) but I do have a shot glass with ounce markings on the side. So roughly how many ounces of rice would equal to about 1 cup?

Thanks for the help

looky here....

most rice can be cooked as follows:

1 unit rice + 2 unit water

you don't need a measuring cup....use any "cup" of any size,
add 1 "cup" rice to 2 "cup" water....your good to go.
