Stupid CDRW/DVD-ROM Combo units.

There is a Rioch 12x CD-R and a fast DVD player as well.

I would prefer to buy them separately though.

If your only complaint is the supposed inability to do CD-to-CD copying (which is probably illegal in mosre than 50% of the time), then I wonder how long you'be been burning CDs. I've copied many CDs with only a burner in the system. Sure, it involves an intermediate step where a CD images needs to be copied to the hard drive. However, if multiple copies are made, you'd want to copy an image of the original to the HD in the essence of time.

If you prefer a 2-unit setup, why can't a combo unit be one of the drives?

-SUO, looking at Ricoh's new combo for my next system

well i have 36x cd-rw drive already in my system (2 years old) and am looking for a cd-rw drive for backups etc, (minimal use). I wouldn't mind a dvd drive but it is of a much lower proirty.

A combo drive for me seems to be the best option, ricoh has a 12x 10x 32x and 8x dvd combo drive available and i still have my cd-rom for cd to cd burns if i ever want to 🙂

people with micro ATX cases and slimline desktops who don't have room for a dvd drive, cd-rw, and cd-rom, when they have other devices like zips etc...

pretty simple if you ask me
