12yrs old and just now discovers the soapy water in the tub. She now waits for me outside the tub, and as soon as I get out she jumps in.

Caught!

Yes, I know I need to clean my tub.:p

My cat is 11, going on 12 soon, and she has been doing the same thing for a couple years now. Maybe she just wants to clean her feet?

At least she waits for you to finish.

My roommates got two kittens last year, and we learned that they liked toilet water. Then we noticed they liked playing in the bathtub after we showered. Then we noticed that the rubber mat was being chewed on and finally actually caught them doing that.

Best of all though, if you let them come in the bathroom while you showered, they'd jump up on the edge and poke their heads around the curtain to lap up the water along the edge, and pace back and forth along the edge between the liner and the outer curtain, watching and waiting. Occasionally one would attack the other and push him/her into the shower too. They seemed to get confused and not know if they should be running away or not from the water.

After showering, they'd climb in and walk around getting themselves wet, even sitting in pools of water. But while walking they'd constantly be pausing to shake the water off their feet, like they couldn't figure out why they kept getting wet.

The boy for some reason took a liking to only the water in the soap dish part of the shower wall. We never kept soap there luckily, but he'd lick that thing dry. You could hear his tongue rasping against it.

The funny part was that they wouldn't drink water left in a water dish. That they just dumped out. We'd stand there watching them. They seemed to think there might be something underneath, so they'd push the dish around and eventually lift it up. The few times they did drink, the boy wouldn't actually put his face in usually. He'd dip a paw in a couple of times to get it nice and wet, then lick the water off.

This one will not drink water out of a dish either. She will drink water out of a cup (loves it and cries whenever I get a drink), which leads me to believe whoever had her before I got her from the shelter fed her this way.

That said, all cats like running water. They will both sit by the bathroom faucet even though there's water in their dish.

I found a sweet thing in the SkyMall mag... I may scan it and show the pic. It's a filtered/refreshed waterfall for cats to drink out of and costs 40 bucks plus 7 bucks for 3 filters. Our cats are really strange too; one even eats vegetables over meat!

Oh yeah, the boy cat likes beer too. Beer drinker No, she didn't abuse him with whole beers or anything. She just happened to be sitting there with a bottle in her hand, he jumped in her lap and started attacking it. It was empty, so he just ended up licking at a few drops, it was funny seeing him holding it like a baby bottle.

Highjump. That's just because he's so cute. Note that he's not on the floor at any point there, and that was a SMALL jump, and from a sitting position. He was chasing after a drinking straw. His back legs honestly look like a rabbit's. He can't sit with his rear paws together, otherwise his front paws would be touching his knees. He splays them out to the sides and his belly hangs between them.

Ha. Well we know ATOT consists mostly of guys.;)

I have to put the lid down, because they're too old to jump straight up to the bathroom sink.

Speaking of bathroom sinks: we had to physically lift and move the kittens if we wanted to use the bathroom sink. They didn't even care if you turned the water on. And they'd lay there and play with any strings or other clothing hanging down if you leaned over the sink.

Kinda weird, plenty of other places to curl up in that would be warmer or cooler depending on the weather, and that would be similar in size and shape if it was a "comfort" thing. I think they just liked being closer to the same level as the humans around them, so they'd get petted a lot more (even though they hated being touched).

It's instinctive for cats to like running water. My cats also lie down next to the sink, and sometimes they fight over it.

It's fun to watch them bat each other in the head while they're trying to drink out of the faucet.

My kitty does that too. She jumps in the shower as soon as aves or I get out. She likes it better when there is some water still left in the tub.

I meant the cats sat IN the sink and didn't care if we turned the water on. As long as it didn't come on full blast, they just got a mildly irritated or confused look. They'd look at the water then look at me like I'm interrupting something.
