Stupid but mercifully quick network question

I have a wired router, and now I'm thinking about building a htpc, but I'd want it to connect wirelessly - however I want to retain my wired connection on my main rig, and of course for the two computers to be networked - I'd need a _____ ? (it is doable, right?)

what new2AMD said.

But it may just be cheaper to buy (like sward said) the linksys wireless router to replace your current router.

Oh, and you'll need a wireless pci card for the htpc.

Yea they do. When I had my setup some time ago, I had to buy a linskys router and a linksys access point. Now they are combined in one unit. If they still sell the stand alone AP's it would be probably cheaper to just buy that instead of a redundant router.

I haven't seen wireless access points reach wireless router prices. You can pick up a 802.11b wireless router nowadays for around $20 after rebate. You can then turn it into a "wireless access point", or like what's been said, just replace your wired router with the wireless one.

Though, if you're going to be streaming large media files over the network, you might want to consider 802.11g instead.

Thanks, so basically a wireless router should hook up to what I have now seamlessly? And yeah, I'm looking to go as inexpensive as possible, and won't be sending huge files over the network.

Yep, that should do the trick. Good luck!
