Stupid (But easy!) wireless card question

This has probaby been asked before, but a search/skimming through recent topics didn't yield an answer.

On an average Cable modem connection (say through Time Warner or any other cable company) would a PCM (I have an IBM T21) Wireless B type wireless card be a bottleneck for the connection speed? In other words, if we had a normal wireless router set up for a normal cable internet connection, would I see noticeably better speeds for my internet with a G type card as opposed to a B type? I know browsing other computers and transferring file, and LAN gameplay would most likely be faster with a G card, but I'm not sure if a cable internet connection is fast enough that a B card would be a bottleneck. My computer came with a B type PCM card and I don't want to spend the 50 bucks for a new one if my internet (all I really use the computer for) wouldn't be much faster with it.

Thanks for any insight

I have RR 6Mb/sec.

Using 802.11b in the same room No problem.

Further away I might get with 802.11b less than 6Mb/sec. I.e. it starts to chock downloads.

If your Interent ?Speed? is more than 3Mb/sec, and the Wireless set is not always in the same room, given the current price of 802.11g there is No reason to go or stay with 802.11b
