stupid bittorrent!

So I'm downloading this file and there are some 2100 sources available, and my download has been at 99% for like 5 days now.

All of the clients are either choked or uninterested (I'm using Shareaza).

What a pita

edit:

lets not forget to mention that my upload has been maxed out this entire time as well :|

is it b/c no one has a full 100% or is it b/c it's hitting 100% then re-checking/re-downloading bad hash?

if it is the latter, then it could be that you already have it all. Just close the client and see if you can use whatever it is you d/led.

This problem haunted me with a few torrents for several weeks. Turns out it had somethign to do with my router settings making one computer in a demilitarized zone. Google helped me fix the problem!

- are there any seeders ?

right, sometimes it's the thumbnails.db file that causes that last % not to DL.

TURN DMZ OFF IN YOUR ROUTER OR DISABLE GAME SETTING.

It should work fine afterwards. 🙂

I had my PC set to be a DMZ (which I thought was just giving it direct access to the net).

I turned it off and reverified and then the download completed... Can someone explain what DMZ is for and why it prevented my download from finishing?

It forwards all ports to one specific IP on your lan. For some reason, DLINK routers (maybe others) gay up the data on its way to the specified pc on the LAN. Dunno why, but it does.

As for "wtf is game setting?," I don't remember the proper term, but some routers have a game setting so you can play online stuff.

Glad to hear it worked out.

Where's EvanGn at, shouldn't he be preaching the 'gospel of Usenet acording to Newsgroups' in a thread like this?

LOL 🙂 Yeah, I noticed his massive bump of all the past few Usenet topics this morning.
