stupid bike shop

My gf ordered a trek bike last week. We were gonna pick it up today and they told us out of the blue that Trek increased their prices, so the price increase is going to be passed on to her, even though she agreed to payer the lower price last week. The 7100 goes from $329 to $399. Their excuse...."oh, it's an 09 model, not the 08. Trek does not have 08s anymore." WTF? It is the same exact dam bike! Went to landry's after and they atleast had one more "08 7100" in the warehouse and they showed us the 09 model....low and behold, it's a different bike (basically the 7200 with a 7100 badge).

Sorry for the week rant, but the first place was 21 miles away (they had the bike $30 cheaper than anyone else at the time) . What a a way to waste time!

Everything should be clearly written on the invoice. Make, model, year, and price agreed on for the bike. You guys did get an invoice when you ordered the bike right? I hope you guys asked for your money back and shop elsewhere, 'cause what this bike shop's doing is very shady.

if the 09 models are out now, you should be able to get the 08 for even less on the model closeout.

yeah, we got our money back and walked right out. It was on the invoice and everything. He said that it came in as an 09 model and he was charged with it being the 09 model, so he would have to pass the increase on to us. WTF, you think we care? It was the same exact dam bike. Not my fault Trek decided to screw you guys over by "halting production of the 08 model".

no, they appearently stopped making the 08's before retailers could get notice of it. No reatiler has the "08 7100" in stock now.

We ended getting it at another local place in Boston. We were gonna get it at Landry's, but we stopped by the other place just incase they could build it today. We still had to order it, but he gave us the 08 price because the guy thinks it was an 08 model that was in the warehouse. They actually got the price increases last week and they even said they were shocked by them. They even got the manager to come over and assure us that even if it was the 09 bike (he has no idea if it is the same, but they do list the 09 bike as a different color...instead of mocha, it's called rootbeer) that he would sell it to us at a loss if it was indeed the same bike because it is what we paid for.

Yeah, the 09 model has a darker shade of green than the 08 model, and it was $100 more expensive. Sounds like pure ripoff.
