Stupid BF2/EA/Punkbuster

Has anyone ever had the problem that when the map switches, you get kicked with a "unmodified content" error?

I must have re-installed and re-patched fifty million times by now, I cannot get this stupid thing to work. I install, patch to 1.41, run pbsetup to update pb, nothing. Keep getting booted everytime right after the new map loads.

Im so frustrated right now. I can't have a half-hour straight of BF2 without getting pissed off.

I am getting booted back to the server browser with this error

That reminds me of error server has different version.Can you replicate that in any server?There are a few things the bf browser does'nt do but wish it would such as tell what version patched or what you are connecting to,or tell you if the server map file is modified even it be the same map name.

I have been around bf since early bf1942 days,and figuring it out can truly test ones patience at times,i have no doubt.

Hell,i have been kicked when all is well for quite some time then suddenly "boom",but sometimes i attribute it to server side not being setup all too well.There are many variables, server side even, to a pb server.

I have also read of some wierdness on being overclocked,and though i am i have nothing concrete to say about it.

I have gotten in habit,upon a fresh install,to go to a dead server and let pb catch up with anything.In theory,some servers just don't give enough time.I have also found that even windows firewall can interfere with the punkbuster B function,so i allow it thru always as exception manually.

I've gotten the same problem on servers that switch maps. The servers that don't switch maps (24/7 same map) don't have this issue.

Yes!happens to me too. i get only one round at a time.
i have to rejoin or find a new server...till the round ends -- rinse, repeat

I've done this, and the tool barely works properly. After doing the update it still kicks you for having an old version. The best thing to do is download the pbsec.htm file for BF2 and place it in the pb folder of BF2, so it downloads the update from the pb server when you join a server.


Anyways, I seem to have gotten the problem fixed by uninstalling, deleting even the profiles (sigh I lost all my binds), and re-installing truly from scratch. Seems like it's solved.
