buy >$75 worth of stuff
cashier rings up "free" $10 giftcard
get home, notice on the receipt, they CHARGED me for the gift card, it wasn't rung up as free
now I have to drive back 30 miles because of their stupidity...

 

Their stupidity? Sure, they made a mistake, but you're hardly a savvy consumer for a) not looking at your receipt before you left the store, and b) not noticing the total amount was $10 higher than it should have been.

You should have gone in knowing that they would have messed it up (which is often the case).

I didn't realize it was my job to catch their mistakes and I wasn't in the mood to stand there and add everything up to make sure it was right. I probably would have noticed the $10 if I was shopping for just myself but I was buying stuff for other people too so I really didn't know what the total should have been
