Stupid bastard hit my car today, and ran off!! **insert curse words here**

Today in central KY, it was 60F and sunny outside, so the fiance and I decided to take a stroll through our local park. The main reasoning behind this was so I could finally get some outside use from my new D50 I picked up less than 2 weeks ago.

After snapping quite a few pics, we went to our local Walmart to pick up some groceries. After we were done, I was sticking some groceries in the trunk, and a lady walks up to me. She points as the huge-ass dent in my bumper (which I didn't even notice), and proceeded to tell me how she sat in her car and watched this guy try to pull into the parking space next to me, hit my car, back out, and go elsewhere. She had written down his plate number and a description of the vehicle, thankfully. While we standing there talking, the guy had pulled down the parking lot a little further, and happened to see us talking. He promptly ran to his truck, started it up, and took off, all this while I was running after him. I guess he thought nobody had seen him. The lady explained to me that he had dropped off two people, and was most likely waiting for them to come back out. The lady couldn't ID the people he dropped off, so going inside after them was pointless, especially if you know how many people crowds our Walmart on a Sunday afternoon.

Needless to say, I'm completely pissed about the whole thing, as this is the first time I've ever been involved in anything like this, giving or receiving. Overall, it's only cosmetic damage, and I keep trying to tell myself that the car still drives fine. Not sure when I'll be able to get it fixed, although with my large deductible, I seriously doubt I'll even bother bringing my insurance into it.

Oh well, I had the car for a good 9 months before some asshat hit it. Maybe I'll just stare at the dent for the next 5 years.

And just as a bonus, I'm including a picture of the ugliest duck known to man. Like I had stated previously, we went to the park to use my camera. Be warned, this duck looks like it has another duck trying to come out of it's mouth, that's why I think it's fugly. Other than that, it's pretty.

I did. They found an address for him in the county next to us, so we'll see what happens. Apparently, in our state now, they can't arrest anyone for a hit-and-run by a witness's word, so even if they do find them, I'll have to file charges and go from there.

If you want to get paid, you'll need to file a police report, I would NOT wait to do it.

Well, an officer came to the scene and did a report. But I can't file anything if they can't find who to file against.

You should find his information, if possible, and call him and tell him he owes you $500 or he can go to jail.

you'll need the police report to file a claim on YOUR insurance if you can't find this guy.

Wal-mart has cameras all over the parking lot where I live. About 20 on top of the store filming the parking lot. Ask them for the video ASAP before it gets erased.

The officer went in after it and let me go ahead and leave.

Too true, sh1t does happen. I'll be over it soon, it' just that it feels weird after seeing stuff like this happen to other people over the years, and it having never happened to me.

My fiance also made comment that the duck looked like a rooster as well :).

My mom has been hit twice in a Wal-Mart parking lot and both times the police came and said they could do nothing because it was private property. Told them to exchange info and left. The last time it happened (a couple of weeks ago) the officer left and the other person then informed my mom that she didn't have insurance. Great, eh? So now the insurance company is making her wait X amount of time before fixing her car because they have to go after the other person. The greatest part about it is that her passenger window is stuck in the down position and even the dealership shop couldn't get it to come back up. A wonderful breeze in the TN winter now flows freely. :p

Call your insurance company. You know who the guy is, if your insurance company can get his insurance company to pay, you won't be out a dime. Getting the police involved is necessary, if only so you have some trail showing it happened.
