Stupid Asus boards

Ok, so my Asus A7V8X-X only supports 1gb(2 banks) at PC3200 or 3GB at PC2100.
Currently i have 256MB at PC2100 and 512MB @ pc3200, running at PC2100.

I want to upgrade to more ram, but DDR price are on par with DDR.
And not to mention PC2100-3200 prices are about the same.
So the question is should i go with 1GB @ pc3200 and max out
or will 2gb at PC2100 be better, even though its slower?

And how can i easily tell how many banks are in a dimm, or is it pretty much always 2 banks/dimm?

Do you have the latest BIOS installed. Sometimes the updated versions change hardware compatibility. I show that board as being able to take 4 banks of PC2700. So you might check the BIOS release notes, I would bet the latest BIOS would take the full capacity of higher speed SDRAM.
