Stupid animal lovers!

My dad was teaching our dog to run along the bike when he goes for a ride. He went aways (a mile or 2) and was on his way back home through the neighborhood. The dog had a choker chain and a leash on. Whenever the dog would lag behind and pull the bike handle bar, my dad would give it a jerk, which the dog would follow by a yelp and a hurry up (I even do this when I take him for a ride). Well, this random lady down the street sees my dad give the dog a pop, and she says, "That is abuse to animals, I should call animal control on you." My dad, being my dad, stops and proceeds to give her a talkin too (I don't know if he started yelling). He told her where we lived so she could tell them where to go, and then observes (as she is smoking) that she cares more about his dog's health than her own. Then he rides home. No animal control.

Why the heck can't people train their own animal without some animal lover telling them how they should do it? Why can't they mind their own business? Don't they realize that dog is YOUR property?

Abuse would be beating an animal for no reason; but beating it for a reason isn't abuse, it's training. Animals learn best and fastest by pain, just look how their mothers train them.

I don't see any reason why I can't backhand a dog that bites me except out of completle deference and curtosey to the owner. Apparantly I'm in the minority on this...

My dog responds best to food, the chubby bastrd. I don't think I could feel right about using the choke collars.

you know what was funny one time...I was driving on a local road, and some old lady told me to slow down. so I yelled FVCK OFF to her.

one of the best days of my life.

So basically when the dog was signaling your dad that it was tired of running and wanted to slow down your dad forced it to continue running?

You lost me there. A momma dog will growl at a puppy is he is doing something bad. If he continues, she will grab him by the scruff of the neck and give him a shake - unpleasant but not painful.

I am not saying pain doesn't work. I had to resort to a bark collar for my dogs and the results were impressive, but that doesn't mean interdog discipline is pain based.

Because every dumbfvck out there thinks that they know exactly how you should live your life, even if that's not how they're living theirs.

If you REALLY love your dog, you TRAIN it!

That having been said, all I have to do to get my dog to do what I want is to hurt his feelings. Dogs, however are like people. They are ALL different. I guess I got lucky.

no. dogs can travel long distances quite well. its just that they are clever and will choose to lag behind to smell some stuff they find interesting even if they know they are gonna get tugged. they will do it if you are slowly walking even, they know the cost and when its worth it. this of course isn't true if you've got one of those totally military grade trained dogs that walk beside you like its their job.

some b*tch woman stopped me and ranted about that sh*t too. its ignorance. i know my dog. after a run or bike trip... at home it begs to play fetch. tired? i think not.

Dude, that dog could outlast ME when I am on a bike. Sometimes we race (with him off the leash), and I have my bike in like 18th gear, and going as fast as I can. He can keep up with me until I get tired, then he flys past. Plus I don't even think my dad was going fast on that ride.

If you don't train your dog, it won't give a sh!t what you say. But our dog will come running as soon as my dad whistles.

Go ahead, don't punish your dog. I'm sure you will still be all warm and fuzzy inside when it gets hits by a car because it didn't come away from the road when you called it.
