man i'm soooo mad. i saw a promotion on amazon. buy $250 worth of electronics and get a $50 gift certificate. I accidently ordered my palm zire one day before the promotion began but amazon won't bend. They say that the rules are the rules. So, ultimately i don't get the gift certificate. i know i made the mistake but i'd think that they would make an exception for a long-time customer like myself, since it was just one day off. what do yall think?

i think you should have ordered during the promotion and you should also stop whining about things that are your fault.

Instead of adding to the imminent mile-long list of "Stop whining" posts, I'll try to explain to you why you should just accept it and learn from your mistakes.

It's really quite simple. Amazon most likely has 10s if not 100s of millions of customers, and when you are working with a clientele of that size it makes no sense from a business point of view for the company to make exceptions with any of their customers. You cannot run a streamlined business of that size and at the same time offer special treatment to each customer. If they made an exception with you, they would have to do the same with the other 99 million. Can you see why they would rather risk upsetting you and losing you as a friend?

Besides, they know you will come back anyway.

and imagine the losses if they did that for everyone who made a similar sized purchase that day.... $50 * 1000 people maybe? that's an extra $50k they can save right there.
