I've never gotten any either (though back in like '99, I got spam like that through ICQ, and subsequently stopped using it). I do, however, hate the ads with sound that AIM occasionally has.

Maybe changeing your screenname from "HungStudPartyboy21" to something less suggestive might keep the spammers at bay? 😛

Actually, my profile isn't searchable, but I would also prefer not to disallow people on my buddy list from messaging me since I often have friends that change names without informing me and try to message me. It would be much easier for AIM to crack down on the mass-spam registration I would think than for anything else to occur. We all know that's going to happen really soon

For me, it just pops up a box asking me if I want to talk to that person. At least it used to, I'd have to check again to be sure.

My AIM -> Edit Options -> Edit Preferences -> Buddy List -> Sounds

This amazes me. I have never seen any sort of AIM spam. You people MUST have some sort of "allow people to search for me" option on somewhere.
