Stupid 10 digit dialing is messing up my phone

I have a Panasonic phone that I believe is 10-12 years old. It's still our main kitchen phone. I've seen it in many TV shows also like early Fresh Prince of Bel Air episodes.

I admit it's not as good as it used to be quality/performance wise, but it's still kickin!

Ive lived the no-landline life for a little bit. means every phone number i call is "scroll down some number of times" on the address book. i dont rmeemer anyone's phone number, or their area code. there's so many area codes in the DC area that i dont know which area code is for which state/town.

I dont understand why we need ten digit dialing.....

whats wrong with just dialing 1 and an area code when you need to get out of area?

1 was supposed to signify a long distance call, but dialling out of your area code is no longer necessarily long distance.
