*stumped* problem with weird horizontal purple lines

i'm stumped to as what the hell this is...you know when you are just surfing the net and you notice all the nice little jpegs and gif's floatin around..well for some reason i can't see jpegs....they have little purple lines through them...and also dvd's do the same thing....i've tried everything...this is my current new setup....msi k7tpro2-a, t-bird currently at 900 default, voodoo5 5500 changed my vid card from a ddr to see if that was the prob no change, 10x generic dvd drive, a 8x4x32x zip cdrw, 15gig ibm deskstar and a 17 gig backup drive...with a 128 megs of pc-150 ram...any help before i send the mobo back for a new one? reinstalled windows 5 times... from win me to win 98..
