no keyboard/mouse in win2k--

power outage shut my system off. everything worked fine before that stupid power outage.

sorry i don't remember the exact errors, but on restart got bsod drive not able to load. loaded recovery console from win2k cd. repaired it via recovery console chksdsk c: /r.

restarted then got unable to load kbdclass.sys, tried to disable it via recovery console, but it couldn't find the file.

restarted again and then got unable to load hidclass.sys, tried to disable via rc, but again couldn't find the file.

restarted again and now win2k gets to login screen, but keyboard won't input and there's no mouse cursor.

mouse and keyboard both usb running through ps/2.

mouse and keyboard both work in win98 (dual boot). something's funny. i'd rather not have to reformat, any suggestions?

No solid answer for you but, you can try booting in safe mode, removing the drivers for the kb and mouse in device manager.
Also try microsoft's database.

I have had the same type of problem with a machine. I don't know why it happens but I had to put a real PS/2 keybaord in to give it input. For some reason my USB keyboard with PS/2 adapter would not go.
