Stumped: Brainteaser

Damn neighbor kid keeps semding these over. This one's got me stumped. Any clues?

Neon Slick and Ari Gant were driving along a deserted country road from the town of Proton to the town of Micron. It wasn't until they came to a multiple fork in the road that they faced a problem. The sign post had been knocked down and they were faced with choosing one of five different directions. Since they did not have a map and there was no one around to ask, how could Neon and Ari find their way to Micron?

if you're travelling toward Micron from Proton, why would you need a sign telling you where Proton, where you are travelling from, is? I've never seen a road sign that tells me where cities are that I have already passed.

Although, you're answer does seem logical, it seems too simple.

I think I was reading this wrong. It does say sign post, and I take that to be the stick with the city's directions all around them. I was thinking more of a road sign that had the millage to the next town. Maybe I should read carefully. Sorry, thEnEuRoMancER. I think you''re right

They need only stand the signpost up so that the arm reading Proton points in the direction of Proton, the town from where they had just come. With one arm pointing in the right direction, the others will also be pointing in the right direction.

Seems too easy, but I'll check.

I was thinking more on the lines of Neon, Ari, Micron, Proton. Atomic symbols or something. I'll check, though.

Let me help you: Neon is a gas, Ari is a Jewish name, a Micron is one millionth of meter and a Proton is a positive charged atomic particle
