OK some background. I have a nice HT setup that I am very happy with. It's nothing special or really expensive but produces very nice results! I spent 1000 bucks on my speakers, Paradigm Cinema speakers, another 6-700 on the receiver, Yamaha receiver (one of the RXVxxxx series in the mid range). I spend 2500 on the TV, it's a 58" Samsung PN58A550. So while not really expensive it does add up. Well the sad news is that I live in a complex and the next door neighbours daughter just decided to move into their basement and now complains EVERY time we turn up the volume at all on this system.

So I'm thinking I might have to go to headphones. The question is will most regular amp be able to power say 3 sets of headphone off the single front headphone jack (just by splitting the signal 3 ways)? If not is there a cheap amplifier that only amplifies for headphones (that is has an RCA input and 3 or 4 RCA outputs and little or nothing else!? Someone at a store recommended that I could get wireless headphones because they have their own amplifier for each headphone.

id say screw the people next door, not litterally, but if its not over the noise bylaw limit and during the day tell her to get bent. If i spent that much on HT system i would use it. Trust me i hate it when people around me make noise during the day because i work nights and sleep days but i dont complain, they are legally allowed to make noise during the day its just the way it is.

That said you will not be able to get good results splitting the signal, wireless would be the better but if there is alot of wireless traffic you might get alot of noise. The best bet would be a headphone amp with multiple outputs. Many studio monitor headphone amps have 4 or more outputs but are not that cheap, ill see if i can dig up some models for you to look at. A friend of mine just bought one with 4 ports on it and paid about 250 for it and the sound is fantastic with good cans.

ok just called up my buddy, he reccomended this headphone amp if you have low end headphones(think under 80$ a pair for a baseline, you can get good phones for $80 but you have to know what you are buying)

Behringer HA400($50)

If you have higher end headphones he reccomended this one which also has 6 ports instead of 4

PreSonus HP60 ($300)

Wow Thanks! I'll take a look at both!

My father has a 250 dollar pair of Senhisers and I have a cheaper 60-80 dollar pair. I'll have to think about it for a bit.

Yeah the daughter is REALLY annoying because she's also a stuck up spoiled brat. However there's not a lot we can do about it, these kinds of things are just part of living in a complex. It's only a 7 unit complex so we sort of have to all get along. One of the other neighbours is an ass hole about other issues as well and we just have to all nod our head politely and try not to piss too many people off. If it were a larger complex I would agree with you.

Just noticed you are in vancouver, i live in surrey. Since i deal with the police on a daily basis for work i have gone over the noise bylaws with them. Since i work nights and live in a apartment my neibours other than the people directly next to me(have 3 apartments that share walls/ ceiling with mine)piss me off on a weekly basis and i wanted to know if i could do anything and just so you know most bylaws varry by municipality however almost all are within a hour of 7am to 10pm and between those hours you can pretty much make any noise up to around 90-100db legally which is REALLY loud, think jet engine.

Im not suggesting you go nuts and crank music all day but i would suggest getting a copy of the noise bylaws for your municipality and sliding it under there door, then maybe they will realize they are being morons. I mean as long as you arnt going overboard with the bass cranked on the appolo 13 launch on repeat all day they should be ok with you watching a few movies on moderate volume.

thank god I live in a REAL house with no one in my basement. Crank it! Maybe you might want to look at a good butt kicker (transducer) and some surround sound headphones (wireless). That's a really good option.

Most people that live in apartments get the transducer and sell the sub woofer or just turn the bass way down.

Good luck!
