Yes, but it's made with oxygen free copper!

You know, like every other copper wire.

the ceramic stands kill me. like how shitty is your cable that if you put it on the floor it will affect the signal. Oh and stickers for your CD... or marker for the CD edge... the grift possibilities are endless!

except stuff like handmade ink and kimono are more art than functional items. They are beholden more than they are used. Audiophile cable is pretending to be superior to normal cables at obscene prices. Very different beasts. Audiophile stuff still come from a factory, at most the seller added a terminal to it.

Clothing I can understand, it's mostly visual and has a long history of people going purely for the sake of labels for example; it's an easy way to express one's wealth. Ink though? I would have thought its purpose was mostly functional; I can completely understand the logic of an artist spending $$$ for that exact shade of whatever colour with such-and-such consistency that makes it ideal for a particular application. I'm having trouble grasping the idea of many artists spending $$$ purely for art supply bling. The only exception I'm aware of are digital artists and Apple products (I refuse to argue that here though as it would likely be a massive thread derailment).

Those ink sticks probably end up in the hands of collectors more than actual artists. Kimonos are heirloom items in Japan.

I had to look those up. Oh, dear. The manufacturers have to come up with this stuff when they're plastered.

"F' man, our pusshead customers still have money. We got to come with something new."
"Insulators?"
"No, we already sell them gol damn gold plated insulators!"
"You won an industry prize for that one." <giggle>
"Guys, I got it! I got it! We'll sell them little towers for their cables, like a line of power poles running behind the sofa."
"Hmm, fifty cents to make, sell for $20.00, I'm in."

<three years pass>

"F' man, our pusshead customers still have money. We got to come with something new."
"Those little power poles we sold them put a strain on the cables, causing sags, signals not aligned."
"Cable trestles! Titanium oxide powder coated cables trestles at $100/ft"
"I can almost taste our next industry award!"

This is probably the worst example I have seen.

@KMFJD such a cool poster.

I used to be a collector of military posters from the GPO (govt printing office). So I love compilations like that.

You can save money on car insurance by reducing your vehicle's miles per year. I recently lowered my declared usage/mileage from 10k miles a year to 2800. Saved me $75 a month on car insurance!!

(sorry. you might care about this, but there's no thread for "stuff you don't know but still care about")

Many of the Habsburg royals had their remains spread among three crypts with their hearts going to the Hofburg chapel, their intestines going to a Vienna cathedral, and the rest of their corpses going to the imperial crypt. They did this because of reasons.

I wonder if mine goes that low, I have them set at 7,500 and 5,000, but 2,800 would definitely cover the latter car. That car is already at $40/mo for comprehensive & collision though.

I'm mostly a relaxed driver until I get a case of the zoomies. Not sure where that comes from but I'm pretty sure Flo would jack me up just for those times.

Progressive has a program called Snapshot that monitors your driving for a set period of time. Things like miles driven, time of day/night, fast starts or quick stops and other factors. Discount can be up to 30%.

Other companies have similar programs by different names.
Yeah no I am not volunteering to be monitored.

<--- worked on implementation of that for a big insurance company.

Always been skeptical of those programs. Back when they first came out it was a box you install in your car but now days it's an app. I don't really want my insurance company tracking everywhere I go even if I'm not driving. I doubt you really save money either, you're probably still paying the same, it's just that now if they deem you unsafe they'll raise your rates.
