Cool. I bicycle through Berkeley on my way to work. To make it more convenient for both of us, want to meet me along my route and I can do a pedal-by shootin'? That way you're covered for your next trip to your neighbor to the South. :p

Whatever you do, make sure to get Trish's Mini Donuts on Pier39. After that, you are free to come back and thank me :p

Why is it so difficult to find okonomiyaki in most cities? We have a very large Japanese population here in Vancouver, but I know of only one place where I can get the stuff. So annoying.

I'm guessing it's because it doesn't really do all that well here. Probably the only customers they would get are Japanophiles and maybe the local Japanese. Though okonomiyaki is quite easy to make, so you can count most of the local Japanese out as customers. There used to be a couple dedicated Okonomiyaki places here in the Bay Area, but they all shut down due to lack of business. To my knowledge only Izumiya's and Genki Ramen are the only places to get okonomiyaki in SF, possibly in Norcal.

Izumiya's isn't that great.. I'm afraid to try Genki Ramen's cause their ramen sucks.

+1 to Tani's Kitchen, whoever said it above. Love that place.
