Sources are saying that it was probably a bomb hidden in a trashcan.

Liberals are already drafting bills to outlaw trash cans :)

Yeah, I know... too soon.

Rather than attempting to be funny?, let's everyone try to remember that there are members who live and work there and who have friends and relatives participating in or watching the marathon and be respectful of that.

It's never too soon. I cringe whenever something happens, wondering which of my rights are going to be snatched.

Thats sometimes the reason for these things. Some people don't want peace.

Srsly.

9/11 was a HUGE success for Bin Laden, not because he killed a couple thousand Americans and eventually got US forces out of Saudi Arabia, but because the Bush admin used it as excuse to go into Iraq. We are much weaker on the international stage because of it.

Inciting a massive overreaction is a goal for some terrorists.

What is just as crazy about this is that countless innocents have been killed in places like Syria but we are not nearly as outraged or saddened by it due to cultural and geographical barriers.

This is outrageous because its a terroristic act. That's a fucking war. Both are sad. Totally different though.

Except that the U.S. government is engaged in secret wars all over the world in the name of terrorism. Its not like we are not at war. Its that it usually hasn't happened on our own soil.

yeah this comment comes up often in any article/video I've seen.
The reality is that many innocents get killed in civil wars all over the world all the time but that doesn't hit home. It's just the reality of it. Wars in Syria or CAR don't threaten the system in which people in far away countries are living (nor their relatives and friends) so they will not feel influenced by it. I think that's normal. E.g. I'm not feeling much right now, more local events gave me way more feels.
Plus a terrorist attack shatters the foundations of your own society, that's the point of terrorism, so it feels different than yet more dead people during an endless war in another continent.

Attack in US = mass media

Innocent killed in other areas = no fucks give .

Riiight. Because you shed tears all day long for the people dying all over the world you have no idea even exist or do you cry over your mom/dad/grandma/puppy dying?

Figure that one out and then get a fucking clue.

That's not crazy, that's human nature. I bet the people in Syria don't give two shits about Boston, nor would I expect them to.

You people honestly think, you honestly think that with the patriot act, DHS, TSA, FBI, CIA and every single other police state agency that some terrorist or north korean would actually be able to plant those bombs? Just like with any other national or large regional event they probably had the finish line locked down for days before hand. Or at least a painfully thorough sweep before the race.

This is courtesy of your United States Government. Slaughtering its own people to erase their freedom in the name of safety and control. Lick the boot, its what y'all have voted for.
