Guys I want to imulate a test environment. Basically I'm designing an active directory network. I plain on implementing a internal namesoace and a external name space. I have a dyanmic ip so I'm using zone edit. I would like to know is it possible to run my own dns server with a dynamic ip. I know you need to regestar your dns servers but will this one ip need enough. Or should I just go ahead and order some static ip's from my broadband carrier.

Depends on your reliability needs. Propagation of DNS Server pointer across the internet takes anywhere from 24-48 hours usually so if your IP changes your average downtime for users to get DNS response is around this time. Now it can be even longer sometimes but the average is 24-48 hours.

This assuming you set a low TTL on your DNS Cache settings btw..

There is no right or wrong way.. but if you are doing it for a business then the obvious choice is static non-changing address.
