yep... when i really have to study or do some homework, i go to school and study there... if i study at home, i always take little study breaks and end up browsing the net for quite a while :(.

Yes. Blasted internet. Damnit! I should be sleeping, or studying. If I didn't have the internet at my desk, I'd be nearly 100% more effieicent. Of course I wouldn't have all sorts of random facts stuffed into my head.

Studying was way easier before 1995. All we had going into college then was dial up and BBS's and some VERY limited websites.

For me the worst thing is that I absolutely NEED a computer for my studies right now, and I cannot even just unplug the 'net, since I have to have a search engine and online dictionaries handy at all times. Then, of course, I wander into AT and end up wasting a considerable amount of time here. :(

Imagine me, at home, in my room, door closed, and a fast computer with broadband internet access. It's pretty tought to study but I've overcome the attraction :p :D

i was able to study much better for finals in the school library, instead of my computer, where i would be constantly browsing anandtech forums

I hear ya. I learn more from class than I do from studying anyway, so I'm not missing out on too much.

I hope you're not going to go into detail about what you might be doing with the door closed. :p

School is the place to study, though theres about a million distractions there too, even in the libraries.

Methinks you all need discipline more than isolation :) Once you learn to control those distractions you should be just as productive. I work and study from home, but I'm also single; I couldn't imagine doing it with children, wife, etc.

I've never had a problem studying at home w/ my computer on. This semester I have to study w/ my computer because my Database class & Telecom class both require computer work (imagine that ;) )
