Studying abroad...

Orsorum

Lifer
Any suggestions on where to study abroad? (either this summer or next... next might be better if I were just interested in taking a few classes)

I'm an econ/math major, looking at taking either (this summer) introductory mathematical analysis and the second quarter of multivariable calc, or (next summer) any advanced econometrics/theory course.

Any ideas?

Well, you could always try the Birthplace of Mathematics; Persia... 😉

That could be fun, if I had the money, and I knew where to study...

oh and tuition is cheap as hell, well, i dunno about international costs 🙁
At the university I went to (Nottingham) tuition fees for international students work out at around $10,000 per year, more for anything involving lab work etc.

After studying there I can thoroughly recommend the Mathematics department though.

england, a different place, yet u'll be able to understand the profs

I spent a year in England, Durham University. I highly recomend the experience to anyone. Very different styles of teaching/learning, the experience of living in a whole other culture. It was less stressful than trying to take classes in a foreign language (though a couple professors were close). Did I mention I met my wife there? 😀😉

Just be warned that it was very hard for me to leave Durham and finish my final year back here in the states. I would have much rather been in the UK.

Germany was a blast for me. I'd say that area (Austria, Switzerland) and even Italy would rock. If you don't know any of those languages, the UK or Australia would be a good choice.
