Study Slams Video Violence

"(REUTERS) A new study concludes that watching lots of violence on television and playing violent video games not only makes kids more physically aggressive, it also makes them meaner and more distrustful."

Has anyone else noticed that the video-game hooked generation of kids these days really doesn't know the meaning of innocence, sensitivity or compassion?

What, adults don't care either? Maybe the first time you're the target of teenage (or pre-teenage)agression you'll start to care. Maybe when it's your 4yr old who is beaten to death on the playground you'll start to care.

Then again, maybe not..., if you're as desensitized as they are, maybe you'll just call it "collateral damage" and move on to the next FPS Lan party.

This is sorta really off-topic, now shut up and get the hell out of here before I kick your ass, you're interrupting my FPS LAN party. 😉

Oh, and normal people can tell the difference between "real" and "pretend".

hence why youg children which dont know right form wrong and fantasy from fiction should not be allowed ot paly violent games like GTA3. if parents noticed the ESRB rating these problems wouldnt be a problem. Most mature people know the difference between games and reality. I played The Risk board game but im not about to take over the world now am i? so why dont you jsut go complain to some people who care... ignorant parents and media morons. cause people only blame the video game industry cause they cant belive that they are a bad parent for not teaching right from wrong. So stop trying to blame us for the inaptitude of the parents of our generation.

now im gonna go play MOHAA and kill some Nazi's

This study shows that violent kids like to play video games (especially violent ones) more than non-violent kids. At what point did it show that video games make kids aggresive/violent?

From article:
"The report found a correlation between kids' exposure to high levels of TV and video game violence and what researchers called "relational aggression" - behavior that includes name-calling, making threats and spreading rumors."

Correlation is the key word there. It means that these aggresive kids watched more video violence on average than the less aggresive kids. Which makes sense, IMO, since aggresive people will probably be more attracted to aggresive/violent forms of entertainment.

Show me something that says "video games make good kids go bad" and not "violent kids like violent entertainment" (duh) and I'll listen.
