So what? I don't see the problem. People seperate themselves by culture. This is why we have places liek "China Town" and "Little Italy". Of course the schools in China Town are going to have more Chinese kids. What's the problem with that? It's only a problem when you start forcing it on people.

Theres nothing to learn about the past. If you actually clicked on the link before posting you would see its being done by culture. Asians are more integrated with whites, and hispanics are more segregated, ie. hispanic students are a majority at a particular school.

My first High school was mostly white, in a town where 33% was a minority my high school didn't reflect that. Why? They zoned to intentional exclude certain minority prominent parts of town.

There is this false sense of diversity. My college was supposed to be extremely diverse. However, when you walked around campus you tend to see people of the same race hanging out together.

That is the case with EVERY college, and everfy high school and every town in this country. It's jsut the way people are. I don't know why we try to force people to act differently.

Are you sure the zoning was intentional? Did you research it to find out?

Alright, I grew up in Exeter Twp, PA, a suburb of Reading. My school was over 90% white. Reading High was 75% hispanic. Could those hispanics have moved into Exeter? Yes. They chose to move into Reading, cost of living in Exeter is NOT ridiculously expensive or anything. Minorities choose to segregate themselves. My college is fairly diverse, we have a high percentage of asian students. Guess who I generally see them hanging out with? Other Asian students. They migrate to each other. If minorities want to segregate themselves, fine, I just don't wanna hear PC people whining about it.

My father was good friends with the head of the school board. I talked to her about it over dinner one night and she said that because my school was ranked so well that certain "factions" decided to exclude certain "groups who brought down the average"

I agree. I don't like the districting policy. Let people choose which school they like and hang out with whomever they decide to hang out. So, asians hang out with other asians, geeks hang out with fellow nerds, weekend drunks hang out in their den, christians hang out with other christians...bla bla bla. Big deal.

So they zoned out the less intelligent. Sounds to me that it didn't have to do with the race, but with the fact that they weren't smart. If they were stupid white people, they would have been zoned out too.

Was it zoned that way? or would it require busing student to make a diverse student population?

You cant zone out stupid people as they are everywhere. You can however zone out the lower economic communities as they tend not to put the same emphasis on education.

School I went to was about 70% Mexican, 20% black, 9% asian, and a dozen or so whites, most of them Russian immigrants like myself. So what? I got into all UC's I applied to (Berkeley, etc), a couple Ivy League schools, etc. Now, most students in the school probably didn't make it to college, but it's not because they didn't have an opportunity. I had an opportunity to take every AP class I wanted, and I skipped a grade in high school, and a grade in college because I had so many AP credits. The problem is not that there aren't enough whites in the schools, it's that a lot of these Mexicans and blacks don't care about school. They join gangs, get knocked up, do drugs, family problems, bad English, etc. More whites is not going to help with that.

This is the real problem with education in the US. For those that want to take an education, the oppurtunity is there, but it is impossible to give someone an education. However, we can give diplomas...

I think that it's just because of where people live on the whole. There may be some places where that's not the case but i think they are few and far between.
