Why would these people need to be detained for 32 days?

Here is a simpler solution.
Want to rent a property? - Proof of legal status
Want to buy property? - Proof of legal status
Want a job? - Proof of legal status
Want to go to school? - Proof of legal status
Want utilities? - Proof of legal status

Problem solved at 0 cost.

Most ironic is that many who disagree with this agree with a national id card which would accomplish the same thing. The nation has been brainwashed into dichotomies like a frog in a pot of water reaching boiling temperature very slowly.

Meh, our goverment simply doesnt give a shit about illegal immigration AT ALL. If anything, and this is proven by actions speak louder than words...they want it. And they want it to continue, since obviously some of the higher ups in DC are benefiting from it in some way [through gifts most likely from companies who employ slaves..i mean illegals so they get bigger bonuses each year].

If our goverment was not corrupt and didnt lie to us every re-election cycle, they would do some action such as simply

- hiring more border patrol guards. Thats a simple and logical thing to do...come on, we have only 5000 men patroling a 2000 mile long border ? Thats less than the number of police in most small US cities. And the border patrol can do almost nothing to detain illegals...the illegals have more rights than our border patrol does.
- require proof of legal status for a home, school etc

But obviously our government wants illegals here. And im sure amnesty will be passed without Americans consent just like most laws are passed without our consent. And once we give amnesty to the 30 million illegals [the 12 million number was a estimate made in 1999] im sure nothing will be changed on the border...So just like with Reagan, in another 20 years we will yet again have 30+ million illegals prancing around and demanding amnesty in front of the white house [and immigration officials just standing around and not arresting them].

Has anyone else also noticed that whenever a politician is questioned about the border, the first thing they spew out is budget concerns ? So its np to spend 800 billion bailing out fraudulent companies, or spend a few extra billion on garbage in the health care bill, but spending a decent sum of money to protect our own borders is out of the question according to them...corrupt politicians is the problem.

National ID card is an "active" system.
Ability to check legal status is a "passive" system.
