Study finds link between Agent Orange, cancer...

Air Force veterans who were exposed to the chemical defoliant Agent Orange during the Vietnam War have an increased risk of prostate and skin cancer, military researchers reported.

no sh!t. A good friend of mine lost her dad because of it. Gets a check every month from the government too.

Military concedes toxic chemical increases risk of illness
Uhh...the military 'conceded' this two decades ago, if not longer.

What is "new" is that, among the illnesses they already knew were linked with Agent Orange - prostate cancer, lymphoma, leukemia, and diabetes - they can now add melanoma.

The inreased risk is detectable and measurable, but small.

Lots of crusty old Vietnam Vets walking around today after weeks of exposure to Agent Orange that have similar or fewer health problems than their age-similar counterparts who never set foot in Vietnam.

I'm a bit late and you have signed off, Brutuskend, but I was there and experienced the orange rain. I spent most of my tour in defoliated territory. Don't know if I'm ever going to be affected directly from the Orange, but I have known many who were. Just another example of our government using us and then sweeping us under the rug. All hail bush.

The ironic thing is they have been killing hundreds if not thousands innocent Vietnamese children since after 1975 and we never hear about it from across the ocean. How do I know? Well I was from that region right outside Saigon, where a lot of OA was used to defoliate forrests. The kid next door to me died in the early 90's and some U.N. agency, after determining that it was the OA, had to pay her family over $100,000 (that's a LOT of money overthere) to keep them quiet.
We are the good guys but occasionally we do do idiotic things. Things like that and My Lai made us look bad and the commies from the North suddenly looked a hell lot better to the Southerners compared to us.
THAT WAS WHY WE LOST THAT WAR!

lol! They must have covered-up Agent Orange's devastating effects on mental competence and memory:
All hail bush.
George Bush was certainly alive when the jungles of Vietnam were being dusted with Agent Orange. He may even have been alive when Saigon fell, when two US helicopters crashed attempting to rescue Iranian hostages, during the Savings and Loan crisis, and when the Space Shuttle exploded.

But in all of my reading of history, I have yet to come across the part where George Bush had any role in spraying Agent Orange or the government's early but very short-lived denial that Agent Orange was toxic to humans.

Did Agent Orange cause you to believe that Bush has been in office since 1968? That Agent Orange is some nasty stuff! :Q

:snicker;:snicker;:snicker;

Personally I think GW had something to do with the Chicago fire.

A guy i used to tutor suffered form exposure to Agent Orange.. ruined his life. He became a diabetic and overweight too.. I'm not sure if the Agent Orange contributed to that or not.. He kept falling asleep in class.. sucked!

He has been sexually non-functional as a result and the Veterans Adminstration always gives him a hard time about everything. Medical stuff, paying for his tuition and other benefits are things he is always fighting for. All that stress gave him a minor stroke last year.

Cliffnotes: Sometimes you can't win.. &.. Life Sucks!
p.s. I love America, i would die for our children too, just like the vets... but i hate how this country treats it war vets.. I won't fully respect it until all the veterans are off the streets 🙁

Maybe I'm out of the loop or something, but isn't this OFN? Or is the news that they actually admitted it now.

I just heard about the lawsuit in ThreeLeggedGnome's link on NPR today. Here's a BBC article:

http://newswww.bbc.net.uk/1/low/health/3459277.stm

The US compensates the American war vets suffering from exposure to agent orange, but denies any link between the chemical and deformities when it comes to compensating the Vietnamese victims, citing that there are not enough evidences. I've seen pictures of deformed still-births - they weren't just dead, they were grotesquely deformed and it's one of the sadder legacies from the Viet Nam War. I can understand that in war, the innocent suffer, but now it's their kids that will suffer alongside with them.

Uggh...I found this picture easily on Google:
