Lawyers for seven of more than two dozen middle school students recently toured the Washington city jail say they plan to sue the city, alleging the students were forced to strip and to witness prisoners engaging in masturbation and were intimidated and harassed. :disgust::|

The flipside to that argument is that they were taken to the jail to show them exactly how it feels to be a prisoner; moreover, with the number of kids toting knifes and taking guns to school, I feel the guards were acting appropriately. It was up to the school officials to decide whether or not to strip search these kids, which is why the superintendent of the school is on vacation...for a long time.

This is one lawsuit that does not upset me one bit. I hope they get every penny they are asking for. The school officials and dept of corrections officials need to burn in hell. If it were my child I would not quit until every officer in the enitre school system had lost his job.

Helpless: quit being ignorant, the DoC officials were just as much to blame, stripping children in front of inmates is wrong no matter what planet you live on. Every adult that was present or had any knowledge of this is wrong.

None off my own, but I am raising my nephew...does that count? Thought I would wait until I finish my Ph.D. until I have children, so I can provide for them all they need to not grow up and have to take trips to jail to see what acting bad results in.

You are very naive. My mother had 2 PhD's and my father had 1, they were very good parents, and I still got in my share of trouble. A child talking in class or chewing gum, or not turning in his homework does not justify turning them into child pornography for prison inmates.

That is some crazy sh1t!! I can't believe that happened! That was a school trip!! How can that (assault and harrassment, a lot of it sexual) be permitted on a school sponsored trip? It sounds more like something a criminal would force kids to do, certainly not something a school should make students do. It woudl be bad if this happened because some sick people did this, but I just find it hard to believe that this actually happened as part of a school trip. I am deeply disturbed by what happened.
