It must have been true love if this guy was willing to give up his chicken Alfredo.

Youngstown State University student Albert Maruna was caught red-handed and arrested this week after he allegedly attempted to have sex with a 15-year-old boy, who turned out to be an undercover officer.

Maruna IV, 22, is charged with attempted unlawful sexual contact with a minor, disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, possessing criminal tools, and importuning.

Austintown police say Maruna started chatting through an online dating app with an undercover officer.

They say Maruna's conversations were sexually graphic, he sent nude pictures of himself and he set up a meeting with someone whom he believed was an underage boy.

According to police, both agreed to get together on Tuesday, Dec. 12, and Maruna would bring lubricant, chicken Alfredo and Sprite.

Police said Maruna traveled to Austintown, where he thought he'd be meeting the teen, when he got there he was arrested.

At the time of his arrest, police say Maruna was carrying an iPhone, a MAC book, three zip drives, a bottle of Astroglide lubrication, Vaseline lotion, two bottles of Sprite, and chicken Alfredo in a Tupperware container.

Three ZIP DRIVES?!?!?!?

Alfredo sucks. Should have gone with marinara or a simple olive oil.

Since the fellow he was talking to wasn't a minor, how could he be arrested? Chicken Alfredo isn't all that great, but it's not a crime to carry it around with you.

I wonder what the criminal tools were.

Yep, that's the takeaway here. But you have to appreciate the culinary expertise. When serving chicken, go with white wine, or at least white soda. You just can't serve Coke or Dr. Pepper with Chicken Alfredo.

In some states its actually a crime to attempt sex with someone claiming to be a minor. But even in those states prosecution is difficult and the perp usually walks or gets a slap on the wrist. I learned that AFTER watching about 500 of those Chris Hansen specials. Curiosity got to me, because normally on those shows they tell you what happened to the guy even if its several episodes later. I went researching and found the vast majority of them were cleared and just went back to their lives. Juries rarely want to convict a guy who went chasing down a 21 year old female cop.
You have to remember with those stings there are NEVER any actual children involved at any point. They basically set themselves up to fail. Chris Hansen even knows it, but its good television so he keeps doing it over and over.

My bad.

Its a 19 year old theater student.
Well, thats still not illegal. And again, the guys usually walk. In fact if they had used an actual cop they might even get sued for entrapment, since they created a situation which would not have existed if not for their actions.

I didn't think it was legal to use chicken Alfredo as entrapment material...

Nothing is legal to use as entrapment material.
Entrapment is illegal.

On the other hand, I honestly dont know how to get pedos that chase down girls. Obviously the cops arent gonna use a real kid, and apparently talking dirty online isnt worth their time even if its to a real kid. I'm not sure how to deal with this problem. Maybe treat it like a health issue instead of a criminal one?

^ The online conversation establishes intent, which is enough.
How does that work in court? What if the fellow in question chickened out after meeting the kid? No crime would have been committed.

I'm not defending the guy, I'm just curious as to how he could end up in prison for crime that wasn't committed.

I'm not really comfortable going after what amounts to a highschool senior pursuing a highschool sophomore. They need to find a better way of wasting money...

Edit:
I'm getting old... I somehow got the ages dicked up. 22 vs 15 still isn't all that. If this were something not manufactured by the government, I'd think it was an issue for the individuals/families involved.

You clearly have no freaking clue what entrapment is or how it works.

I love how when someone doesnt have an actual argument they immediately attack the intelligence or wisdom of the other party. You should be working for the Trump administration.

It's pretty much impossible. I don't think it's a health issue the perp if going by looks wanted some action and probably couldn't get any the normal way.

I know what he did is illegal and he did it in a dumb way but you have to feel a little sorry for him. In his mind he though he was getting something for nothing all the while someone had a better ruse to trap him with.

His life is ruined and the person on the other end goes on about his day.

I love it how when caught talking out of their ass someone who can't man up immediately had to deflect the blame.

Look up entrapment and see where you went wrong Zippy, it's the only chance you have of learning something. One party being a cop has NOTHING to do with whether or not it's entrapment and if you don't understand even that much you're going to keep making a fool of yourself on this subject.
