This is the only story I could find on it so far, my GF (who is a teacher in the same CMS school system).

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An assistant principal at Randolph Middle School in Charlotte is temporarily off the job.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials say the administrator slapped a student who spit in her face. Police officers were called in to restrain the disruptive student.

CMS has not released the assistant principal?s name, but says the administrator has been suspended with pay.

The assistant principal will have a hearing to see if and when she?s allowed back to work.

The student has been suspended.

The e-mail said the student had threatened the assistant principal and became physically aggressive. Let's see what happens to the AP, that student deserved every bit but you know the sensationalist media will take this. What about our poor children? ...That parents fail to discipline.

I long for the day when our school system returns to it's roots. Teachers are the boss, period.

Modern day parents need to get a clue.

If your little Princess or Prince got bitch-slapped, there's probably a damn good reason. We're talking about discipline, not abuse.

Teachers have (or SHOULD have...thanks, Liberals) the right to maintain good order and discipline in THEIR classroom without fear of losing their tenure/career/getting blacklisted.

They went to school and got the degree. They choose to make this their career...to teach your little shii2tz how to read and write. You should stand behind them, for cryin' out loud.

If the parents had slapped the kid a few times when he/she was younger, the principal wouldn't have to be doing their job for them now.

I'm sorry...or actually, I'm not, but when I was a kid the teachers could and would spank you. Kids absolutely did NOT act the way they do today. And that was the reason. That, and more parents spanked, too.

When the teacher told you to do xxxx or else, you by God knew what "or else" meant, and you stopped.

OK. You were raised WAY wrong. How can you POSSIBLY justify a kid spitting (SPITTING, not "back talking" or "cussing") in a teacher's face as "OK?" Are you that narrow minded? Do you see no value in actually ensuring the next generation has VALUES like respect for authority and those in positions of authority?
