Student loan problems...

I've taken out $4542 in 3 loans.

#1: $1432
#2: $591
#3: $2519

My 3rd loan was re-assessed and I was only awarded $1636. This meant that I had to re-pay them $883 from the $2519 I received originally.

Since I'm taking a year off school I have to start re-paying the loan. I phoned them up to confirm my balance and they say I owe $4542. I explained the situation and they say they have no record of my $883 repayment!

Jeez... just what I need 2 weeks before I leave the country. I'm talking to my bank and they say it could take a week to find the transaction at a cost of $35 per hour. (I get it for free though cause I made my account a joint account with my girlfriend who works at the bank... SUCK MY ASS CIBC! I'm making you work this time!)

Um, so why didn't you keep records of it? You would think for tax purposes you'd keep records of student loans you've yet and have to pay out. Well regardless, this is something you should keep track of better anyway.

I keep pretty good track of all my documents/receipts. I'm sure I did a direct deposit to the loan office in which case I wouldn't have any recepit.

I can't imagine that I didn't pay the money back although it's not an impossibility.

So just keep paying even though the balance isn't resolved. They were probably just working off of all the original figures. Give the lender an approximate date of payment, if you can remember, and if they can't find anything ask to talk to a manager.
