Student loan consolidation?

I still have at least 3 years of college left, but I want to start paying off my student loans now (technically I don't have to start paying it off yet). If I start the payments with the company I got my loan from, the monthly payment is pretty high, so I'm interested in consolidation. Basically I am looking for a good student loan consolidation company to go with to start making manageable payments now. Any suggestions? 🙂

wait until you're out of college. You can only consolidate once.

Also in about a month the new congress is expected to cut the federal student loan interest rate in half. You would at least want to wait until then.

I got mine from Wells-Fargo, will the government thing affect me at all? I already sunk the money into college, so that's set...I just want to start paying it off now, because I know there's no way I'll save if I have to wait a few years lol.

I believe they changed the law so that you can no longer consolidate while you are in school.

Edit: In addition, you shouldn't need to be in a repayment plan to actually make payments. However, due to the low interest rates, I'd wait until you were done with school until you start paying them off.
