HOUSTON -
Aldine ISD police say a 16-year-old student at Nimitz High School was so upset with his substitute teacher for taking his phone, he pushed her onto the ground.

The video shows the student, who's described as 6 foot 3 and 325 lbs., standing up and pushing the teacher three times and on the third time the 66-year-old woman fell to the ground.

This is absolutely disgusting. This is Societal Decay. If I did something like this there would likely be nothing left of me to prosecute after my parents got ahold of me. Now a days, it must have been the teachers fault.

Teens are the most wild and threatening group of humans to face. All balls and no brains. One of them was provoked... are we really surprised by the result?

It's not societal decay. It's one incident. Honestly, you guys need to stop posting these one-off stories here - it's bad for your own mental health.

These forums are littered every day with these one-off stories. If you honestly think society's morals have grown in recent years/decades I feel sorry for you.

True, it's just these days things get out all over the world fast.

Things like this have always happened.

The kid still gonna be screwed even more in the future because of that.

The state of morality is a judgement call; on the other hand, it's unarguable that crime rates have declined remarkably in the last two decades.

It's just easier than ever to dig up a story about Nowheresville, USA that has some horrifying aspect to it. I think too many people here linger over them a la disaster porn; you want to be horrified and outraged. Honestly, I think that's unhealthy. Accept that the billions of humans alive will occasionally be terrible. I'm not saying ignore them, but put it in context.

No, things are worse now. Kids were taught to respect their elders. Now not so much.

The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers

Quote by Socrates, somewhere around 400BC.

Well said. There have always been isolated bad things happening. We are simply much more aware of them today, and outrage junkies can always find new ones to feed their cravings.

The kid is the story is a douche, and I hope pays dearly for his actions. That being said, at least he turned himself in!

good for that student:) given that education is compulsory and that the phone was the student's property, the substitute cant reasonably complain. i threatened to kill my 4th teacher when she stole things from me. teachers and the school systems are the ones decaying society not the innocent prisoners there.

GL with his future.

It is fair to assume that he didn't have a bright future even before this. Most probably, like so many others, a victim and villain himself.

Before too long, he would sire a few like him (if he hasn't already started) and the cycle would continue....

How do you measure "society's morals"?

Crime has been steadily decreasing. Murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault are all better than they have been in recent history.

Teen pregnancy and abortion rates are lower too.

I'm not saying what the kid did was right but to take this as an example of society's morals going down the drain than I really don't know what to say.

Kids have always disrespected their elders. It is just you are seeing things from a different point of view now.
