Student found me eating pizza out of trash...

OK, let me clarify one thing first. The pizza wasn't just sitting in a heap of trash. It was still inside the pizza box, and the pizza box was sitting on top of the trash bin. I was just sitting in the lounge when some people came in with pizza and when I asked they said there was free pizza in the other lounge but to hurry up or it'll be gone. So I moseyed over to the other lounge, and I saw the pizza boxes sitting on top of the trash. I opened them thinking nothing would be there but I found 3 small slices, so I took one and took a bite. Well this girl had come in looking for free soda and saw me, looked at me all weird and then walked out.

But what's wrong with eating outta the trash if its still in the container? It was only put their a few minutes ago, and since she heard the free pizza announcement she KNOWS its been there only a few minutes. Not like there's bacteria all over it since the box was on top of the trash bin.

I agree, IF you don't know what context its in. But my point is that she heard the announcement, and knew that just 3 minutes ago the pizzas were sitting on a table in the lounge. She knows that people sponsoring food can't leave it out once they're done with the room, so they had to put it on top of the trash bins before they could leave.

I used to work with a guy that loved planting food in a trash bin when no one was looking (usually on a bed of clean paper towel), then walk by and act like he smelled something, open up the bin and pull out the food and start to eat it.
