Student attacks teacher because he had his Nintendo Switch taken away from him.

Teachers are seriously underpaid and undersupported.

Also I have to believe this isn't the first incident with this kid. I mean how likely is it that the first time this kid steps out of life he's trying to 2nd degree murder a teacher. I'm sure there were red flags they were ignored.

Finally I can't imagine how much worse this situation would have be if republicans had passed laws to arm teachers.

His being a minor will get him off the hook sooner than later although he could be charged as an adult in this case?

In Florida the prosecutor can try any minor who is 14 years or older without even getting permission from the court. It's the only state where no court approval is required. That student looks to be at least 16. I find it hard to believe he won't be tried as an adult.

Ignored? Or red flags that were brought to people's attention but were summarily dismissed because the school lacks the resources/personnel/effort to address the problem itself and possibly avoid future heightened conflict issues like seen in the video. And yes, parents are to blame too.

That's a lot of raw strength.
You wonder why security wasn't in a hurry? They were only able to intervene because the teen let them intervene.

Why should any teacher, student or school aide have to fear this guy? Since there have been previous incidents of violence on his part, others need to be kept safe from him.

There may be little change in a mental health facility. If he wants something he is not supposed to have, it is likely he will act out again.

Not trying to defend the kid but he appears to be special needs and was in the “behavioral” wing. He’s being held on $1 million bail.
That can complicate things in some circumstances, and it could even in this one.

That lady scolding others about labeling him needs to fuck off, though. I know she's trying to be an advocate for students with mental health problems, but she's just plain lying about it.

"He's not a threat!" Uhh, yeah fuck you, lady. Then come and piss him off in his face, and see what happens to you. He's not a threat to anyone, right? Right?? Fucking idiot.

This "kid" isn't a kid. And he doesn't have developmental issues, he's mentally disturbed. That does NOT mean he doesn't know better, or doesn't have any concept of right or wrong. He was telling the cops "fuck you, I got better places to be than jail". Does that sound like a kid that doesn't know right from wrong?

IMHO he deserves to be locked up for this incident, at least for a while. Send him to a hospital instead of jail if it's what is needed, but this kid is DEFINITELY a threat to others if he loses his temper so easily. If he knows he can attack people and get away with it, do you think that will demotivate him from physically attacking others in the future?

This was fucking brutal. He didn't just shove her down. He knocked her out, then straddled her to keep pummeling her as she lay there like a ragdoll.

All it takes is one good kick or punch in the wrong spot and you're screwed. My girlfriend drives special ed and a student got triggered and beat and kicked her and she can't move anymore without being in agony. It's been a real pleasant time, the end result, and getting it resolved has taken over a year and we have yet to see any end in sight.

Also I find the response of this forum odd. We have a case where a kid shoots a teacher in a premeditated fashion (albeit a special needs kid) and we're outraged at the parents and the school for letting this happen with no one wants to arrest the kid or lock him up or whatever.

Here we have a special needs kid who attacks a teacher in a non premeditated fashion and we want him locked up for life with the key thrown away. I just kind of struggle to see the difference between the cases other than one is black and the other is presumably white. I would wager the first case is way worse.

For reference these are the facts on that kid who shot the teacher
.

Every teacher's nightmare comes true.......again. So let's revisit this conservative idea to arm teachers and apply it to this incident. There's no acceptable outcome that I can think of. Whether armed or not that teacher was going to get beat to a pulp with the added possibility of having the afflicted student killed by another teacher along with all of the messy tragic fallout that will go with it.

But good shoot, right?

First of all, you are wayyyyy oversimplifying the discussions on BOTH cases in these forums.

Second, you don't see the difference between culpability of a 6 year old and a 17 year old? I mean...wow.
I'm sure it's the fault of Trump or conservatives.
🙄

Fuck off, shitball.
