This has been going on for a few months now every time when the upgrade reaches to a certain point and I had let it sit there for a day or longer but to no results.
A couple of power downs would returns to its previous point.
I'm pretty sick of this since there is nothing I could do to stop Windows from taking over my laptop to do the upgrade that seems impossible.
Is there a way I can return to Windows 7 which I had previously (it has been over a year since I switched) had?

Try to find the error description. Look for error logs and then google the error.

You could just use the recovery media that came with the laptop. It won't be badgering you about upgrading to 10 anymore.

Or, if it's already running an upgraded and activated Windows 10, just download the latest ISO of 10 and re-install. It will activate automatically, and most likely run much better.

Here is a link if you need it:

Or, Get the Feedback Hub App from the MS Store. Go to announcements, 15048 for PC, Known issues, See if it fits your situation.
