So unfortunately I didn't get my widescreen LCD. Sad

They stopped selling them here and all that was available was a 19'' LCD with a kick ass real 2ms response time. So I took a dead pixel program with me to check the LCDs there. All of them had at least one dead pixel. Well I assumed it was a dead pixel since it was just a black dot on a background of any color. One LCD I checked out was excellent, except on a blue background it would should a black dot, though was fine on any other background.

I thought it was better than the others so I bought it and came home. After watching a lot of scrubs, that pixel has decided to turn blue whenever there is a dark background. I am assuming it is a stuck pixel and not an actual dead one, in which case I should congratulate myself on my decision since there is a chance to fix it.

Anyone have any knowledge on this? I don't want to use a rubbing technique in case other pixels get stuck or something.

You can try using a program that "flashes" the pixel across several colors, in an attempt to unstick it. The program is called "UDPixel". Just do a google and you will find it. It didn't help for my single pixel, stuck on red. I never notice it, though, and after a few months its about the same as having a spec of dust on the screen.

Give UDPixel as shot, though. Just stick a 1 x 1 square over you dead pixel, and cycle it for a few hours.

That is a pretty cool program. I had a stuck pixel, but it didn't fix it. However, the pixel is almost fully functional except when it comes to turning it off (black). So, only fear or doom or really dark games show the pixel. But it is only one and I rarely even remember it is there. Pretty cool program though.

Some people have had success using a cue-tip to "massage" the dead pixel back to life. If it works, it isn't guaranteed to fix it permanently, but it's worth considering.
