I have a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard running a Leadtek 6600GT PCI-E currently...my budget is roughly the cost of a 6800GT but if the performance/price ratio is about the same I wouldn't mind saving money and getting a X800XL.
Options:
Buy another 6600GT and run in SLI
Sell my 6600GT and buy a single 6800GT
Sell my 6600GT and buy a single X800XL

What do you think?

I've heard, and I'm not certain if this is true or not...but two 6600GTs in SLI can still be outperformed by a single 6800GT/U, so you might want to consider that.

Also, I've got an x800XT PE and it runs Half Life 2 and Far Cry at max settings w/o a hitch, might be something to look into...or the x800XL is also a good choice, just comes clocked slower than the Xt and PE.

6800gt hands down...considering you want to keep it for 2 years or more, you'll want the shader model 3.0 support.

Personally I don't see the point in upgrading to a 6800GT from a 6600GT at this point in time. Sure the 6800GT performs a damn site better, as does an X800XL, but surely you can survive with the 6600GT until either the 7800GT comes out/ drops in price. From the looks of your system I find it hard to see where you would benefit that much from this upgrade.I only say this because you seem to be fairly restricted in your budget.

hans030390.......I have some shares in Shader model 3.0, you wanna buy them?
