Stuck on HL2, help! (SPOILER)

I am at the part in the citadel where you get the modified gravity gun, here is a screenshot of where I am stuck:

grab the energy balls out of the tube, then the shield will go down.

Use the alt fire of the gun and grab the power balls in the energy field to the left.

I'm stuck at the part in the gaol where you set up the turrets and the combine soldiers keep rushing in. This is the second
time you set up turrets and you've got 3 of them. I keep getting owned by the combine guys with the shot guns. I'm playing
it on medium dificulty. Anyone got any pointers on where to place the turrets. I'm basically putting them in the room with me
just inside the door ways but I think its just prompting the combine to throw gernades in. Anyway ... HELP!
