Stuck in SafeMode in win2k!! HELP

My friend got his computer stuck in Safe Mode in win2k and is at 16 colors. LOL. I tried helping him getting out of safe mode but none of the things we tried worked. Usually you'd restart the computer and it'd come out right? Anyone have any suggestions.

He has all these fuzzy lines and colors right now. hehe.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. thx!

What kind of things have you tried already? this way we can know what doesnt work, and would be easier to determine what the problem is...

Well we know that he has the right drivers and everything installed, and restarting the computer doesn't change the setting back to normal. That's all he has told me =/.

try holding f8 (or is it f5 with win2k, cant remember) when booting, should bring up a menu that allows you to select boot options, select normal
