stuck in 256? color mode

After opening c&c somthings gone wrong with the colors, theyre all purple. I dont actually know if this is 256 colors as starcraft uses 256 and it looks a bit messed. Looks purpley. What could be wrong here?? I have an X1900XT at stock speeds.

Restarted comp - same
Installed cat 6.9's - same
Used other plug in gcard - same

this is a hardware problem. if things are a purple tint...or pretty much any color tint it is because the monitor cable is not fully secured into the card.

or there is something wrong with the cable, and if you can you should get it replaced 😉 I've had this happen to me and friends many times before. On one monitor i even used it for a year but had to suspend the cable in a special way

Aww nooo! Ive always been wary of my gcard, its done unusual things.

Ive got a lot of problems with blue screens etc on my new rig for no reason, it could be that. The cables fine as im using the same cable to type this now on a different rig. So it could be the card yeah? Its crap i have no other pci-e card to test with :frown:

Firm up some of these scenarios:

1. Always purple now? everywhere? -> cable, gfx card
2. Purple only in certain apps/games -> gfx card, drivers
3. Purple only at certain resolutions, color depths, refresh rate -> gfx card (blown ramdac)

1. Purple is the main color. The screen just looks like its in 256 colors, as the desktop would actually look like this for 5 seconds before i started a game that requires 256 colors, but when i closed the game everything would revert to 24 bit or w/e.

In starcraft its purpley, and other games look similar, one bluescreen actually had a purple block in it too.

2. All games ive tried look awful, purple is the dominant color in a lot of them.

3. Resolution seems to make no difference.

bluescreen... as in STOP/bsod/crash/bugcheck bluescreen had a block of purple in it?

If so, it's the graphics card...with out a doubt.

🙁
