stuck at water on HL2!!

Have been trying to figure out for an hour what I"m supposed to do....I'm at the place that is the background for the menu screen with the old barn and such....I can get to the swamp of toxic waste, but have no idea how to get across, I keep dying.

Be more specific, in what area. Infact, go take a screenshot and post it here so we have a visual. Ge ta sfar as you get then take the screenie.
 
Grab the blue barrels and go under water and stick thme benith the jump to raise it. At least thats where I think you are.

There is no toxic waste where you use the blue barrels. Otherwise, you'd die trying to put them underneath 🙂.

I am very familiar with the menu screen background (pretty, ain't it?), but I can't reference to where that is in the game. We'll need a screenshot or two.

How do you take screenshots anyhow (besides printscreen)?

There is toxic waste RIGHT after that jump though. I think thats what he ment.
 
No I have not used the boat yet but JBT Is exactly right as to where I am...that makes a lot of sense with the barrells, thanks 🙂
 
You already knocked down the blue barrels, so now "use" them and place them under the end of the ramp underwater. (there's one already set up as an example)

guess it's time to backtrack, or I'll load an old save point? Is the boat near the old barn with the crank?

Its wherever you left it. You start that level with the boat, so just continue using it. Go past the red barn (unless you want the goodies in the crane), jump the dam, put the barrels in the underwater basket, then jump that wall (using the boat) and go through the toxic area.

I was stuck at that point too. I tried putting the barrels on the ramp to lower it that way. I didn't even look under water.

How did you get to the open swamp area in the first place then? At least for me, I entered this building where this person opened the gate and told me to use the water vehicle which was docked right next to them.

You use the water vehicle and go into this wide open area but then have to get out to open another gate at the top of some ramp. Then you go through to another series of wide open areas.
 
wow I so missed that...I walked all the way through, I think I know which guy it is but my sound was turned down so I may have bolted by him
 
You got that far w/o the airboat?! LMFAO! Thats awesome! Yes, put the blue barrels right undernearth the end of that ramp (the side closest to the wall). You will see a little basket (its upside down to contain the blue barrels under water. If you go under water, you will see it and there is already one blue barrel in there.

make sense?

Also, you will deffinitly need the airboat to pass a certain area. Time to backtrack.

So true, you'll have to load the last game before you got to the boat area and play through to that spot. Sorry, you have to get the boat to make it past! By the way, turn your sound up...you're missing a lot with the sound turned down man. I'm surprised you got so far without the air boat! good luck 🙂
 
I finally finished all the boat crap. You'll definitely need it, as there is a good hour or two of boat stuff. Whenever you are tempted to ditch the boat don't.
 
Actually, he wouldnt be able to make it passed the ramp without the boat. It's funny, but I can at least see someone else make the same mistake.
