OK, I was working on a friends computer & was trying to see what kind of overclock I could get. Well, I think I hit a wall, but that's not the problem. Right when Windows got to the desktop, AVG started to update. Well, at about the 98% mark, it just locked up hard. No mouse, no nothing. I waited a good 5 minutes to make sure & then just pushed the reset button.

At boot, I promptly dialed the computer to the stock settings to make sure everything was fine. I then told Window to go into normal mode after the message & it appeared to be loading fine. That is until it got to the logon screen. I have the computer set to autologon, but it doesn't go anywhere. Also, normaly, the little Windows logo will migrate to the left of the screen, but it doesn't. There are no buttons to push & pushing Ctrl+Alt+Del twice does nothing (supposed to bring up the logon box). I've tried clearign the BIOS for the heck of it, I've tried to boot to safe mode (same results, stuck at logon screen). I've tried to start from last configuration (same results). I've loaded the recovery console with a CD & did th e CHKDSK /P & CHKDSK /R to no avail. I'm direly trying to keep from reloading windows, because it's many hours of work & I have went through a ton of trouble to set everything up just right. Does anyone have any ideas?

Also, I know that the Keyboard & Mouse work while on the screen even if there for hours. The mouse curser moves around just fine & the keyboard responds with a warning beep if pushing Esc or Enter. No hardware was changed from the time the problem started.

Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Heck, I'd be greatful if there were even some sort of simple way to use the System Restore from the recovery console or to just plain throw the disc into another computer & move the working files around.
