I bought a new 1TB ssd and I got stuck at formatting. It's been 24 hours, slow format using disk management, and got stuck at 78%. I have tried to cancel the format, but nothing happens. At the moment the disk is connected via a USB adapter. Is it okay to just pull the plug out? This seems to be my only option (and waiting... for a miracle). Task manager shows zero input/output, and 100% active time. Also the light on the adapter is blinking. Your thoughts?

1TB SSD that you slow format meaning you wrote zero's to it? Shouldn't take 24hours even with USB 2.0 and don't write zeros to it. Unplug it and try to secure erase instead. If you can't then do a quick format and just write actual data you can care less about on it like p0rn over and over.

Thanks for your reply. Problem is solved now.
Something made my computer stuck. Even after i unplugged the drive, disk management was still formatting ... something. After a reboot everything was fine. I went for slow format just in case, even though as far as I know that is done at the factory before the drive is shipped.
And btw, slow format, meaning I unchecked the quick format checkbox.

Just FYI, in general, DO NOT "slow format" ("full format" - aka write zeros) to an SSD. It just wastes write-cycles, and writing to an SSD, FILLING FREE SPACE, may put some SSDs into a sort of "free-space panic", and they may never full recover.
