My eyes are in such pain from this. It all started when I 1st got my radeon DDR card back in January. Only then I was using 98se and was stuck at 75 Hz. Well I've just installed win2000 pro and can get no higher then 60hz in any resolution. I have a Sony G400 monitor and the drivers from there website and also the latest win2k drivers for my radeon. I've tried using the display properties and powerstrip to change it but with no luck at all. I really really hate this. My monitor is quite capable of 85hz@1600x1200, and I was using that with my older TNT before the radeon. In any case, i'm going to go blind very soon. Anyone have any suggestions or know of a way out of this hell?

Yes, someone please enlighten us. I'm stuck in the very same situation, except my specs are a little different: a cheap 17 inch Gateway monitor (but it CAN do 1152x864 at 75 hz), and a Radeon SDR PCI. I'm using the Windows 2000 drivers from the CD that came with the card.

Ok, little update. It seems that if I install the drivers from the cd that came with my radeon I am able to get a refresh rate of 75hz. Now when I try to update my drivers it kicks me back to the lovely 60hz. I really don't want to be stuck having to use the original drivers.

alright jliechty, i got yelled at in the rage3d forums but I have found the answer! Apparently, you goto the advanced display properties and change what you want your max to be in the Monitor tab, then also change it in the attributes tab. Worked for me, i'm using the latest drivers and at 1600x1200@85hz. Give it a try, i'm around if you need anything.
