I'm sure anyone whose seen God written in arabic (aka Allah)
noticed the ring Stryker is shown wearing right in the beginning of the movie...
What was the point of that?

Why is the Arabic for God written on his ring, when he's not even Muslim? Seems like it IS an attack on Islam. Take your "wahh wahh PC wahh wah" crap and shove it up your asses. If you don't realize the power that symbols like this have on Billy Redneck, I feel pity for YOUR political correctness.

I didn't even notice, so how is it a message? Maybe it's something that Brian Cox wears.

thats what i was thinking. perhaps he recently found faith in the muslim religion before shooting of the movie and thats what he wears. and because he believe's in it so much he didnt take it off for the filming. editing and such just for one little ring probably wasnt a top priority or they just didnt think nothing of it. without a explanation or logic offered, all of a sudden everyone jumps to conclusions and all of a sudden a ring in a movie is slandering a whole race.

The more likely explanation is that the art director thought the arabic symbols looked "cool" and had the Brian Cox character wear a ring with it since the Brian Cox character probably thought himself as God because he wanted to rid the world of mutants. Stryker was playing God.

Personally if I were an artist, I would be hestitant to use any Arabic or Muslim symbolism in any of my movies or books (I notice that Dune seems to have an arabic feel to it) because of the fear of inadvertantly offending them. I wouldn't want to get a Salman Rushdie type sentence on my head...

Billy Redneck? Do you think Billy Redneck knows how to read Arabic? I'm pretty educated and I didn't see it. If anyone is offended by this, they can go jump off a building.

I think this sounds like a better explanation,
maybe it wasnt meant to be anything more.
who knows

Redneck is quite a derogitory term for someone fighting for PC. Idiot.

Also, it's just a damn ring. If people are offended by seeing the name of their god on the ring of someone that does not believe in their god, then they're offended too easily. There's no law that says you have the right to not be offended.

Also you didn't hear blacks complain about being made the bad guys in Daredevil. "In the comics, the Kingpin was white. He was not black. But in the movie, he was portrayed as black. Therefore this movie is aimed at portraying blacks as criminals."

That's a good point about Daredevil - but they had a very talented actor in Michael Clarke Duncan who wanted the part, and so he got it.

Here's what IMDB says:

"In the comics, the Kingpin is white, but in the movie he is played by an African-American, Michael Clarke Duncan. The studio was convinced to use Duncan after several white wrestlers gave poor screen tests."

how does a ring show that a person is muslim?

i have two friends who have japanese kanji tattoos... yet they aren't japanese and don't know how to read japanese besides their tattoos.
i have a friend with a nordic style tattoo, yet he isn't from a nordic country
i have some hawaiian art, yet i'm not hawaiian.

just a case of people looking for what they want to see.

I'm not fighting for political correctness.

I'm saying that when you see a ring with Arabic written on it, you think "that person is Muslim". Think about what that means in America.
