Sad to hear about your broken cpu and mobo. First time I've heard about the mobo being broken too, I'm used to cracked cores (hearing about 'em, have installed more than 20 T-birds myself without a shim and never cracked one, must be lucky).

The cooler sounded very promising, I can understand why you got one. At least you were one of the first to try using that type of cooler. That's a pretty serious design flaw, wonder if they did not test it.

May your cpu and mobo rest in peace.

Thanx for the condolences! I think this company is good in radiator technology, if you look at their products. But this device seems to be their first CPU cooler, and for sure they did not test it enough to make sure it really fits.

I'm surprised that new HSF's for AMD's are being made with the relatively stupid ZIF tab mounting mechanisms. The 4 screw-mount is the future of attaching HSF's. Heck, my Alpha P3125 attaches to my SECC2 PIII with 4 screws :D

You are 100% right, so many of these fragile AMD CPU's have been broken, and then such a big and heavy housing like this Radiator ...

I was gonna get a Zen radiator, but they're way too expensive. I mean $100, there's no way i'm gonna pay that much when i can get an SK6 for $33. I would probably get one if they even dropped the price down th $50.

<< LOL I agree, go with a 8045. It cools better anyway. >>

I also strongly recommend a PAL 8045 or a MC462, because of the Zen Radiator's flawed design.

But fact is that the coolling power of the Radiator is almost as good. I am sure we will soon see more of this type, and it's just a matter of time that they overtake conventional HSF. Because this radiator/liquid type cooling has more potentila (it's active cooling like a fridge) than just blowing the air in the sink.
