Strong signal on laptop, but can't access internet

I have a dell laptop with Vista on it. It has always worked fine. connected to the network in our house and got on the internet. Our internet was down a couple of days ago for a while. And since then, the laptop hasn't worked. It says it is getting a strong signal - but can't see the network and can't get on the internet. we have another laptop and it works fine....

what could the problem be?

i think in the network setup it has the name of the laptop - then it says Unidentified Network - then goes to internet (which is greyed out).

thanks in advance for any help!

The statement about the connection does not mean that you are really connected to the Wireless Router.

Make sure first that you are connected to the Router.

what do you mean about the ip address - the one on the laptop is set to obtain one automatically.

how do i make sure i am connected to the router?

the network setup stuff on vista confuses me - it looks different and i'm new at this stuff....
